Studying in the Netherlands and want to get your Dutch driving licence? We offer driving lessons in English in Tilburg, with an experienced instructor, at your own pace.
With more than 20 years of experience, I have taught many international students and expats. You get the same fixed instructor for your entire course, in a brand new Volkswagen Golf 8. Lessons are flexible, so they fit around your classes and your schedule.
How it works
1. Free trial lesson
We meet, you drive, and you get honest advice on how many lessons you are likely to need.
2. Driving lessons
We follow the Rijopleiding in Stappen (RIS), a method recognised by the CBR. Track your progress in the RijbewijsApp.
3. Theory exam
You can take the CBR car theory exam in English. You book it yourself at the CBR.
4. Practical exam
We prepare you for the CBR exam in the Tilburg area. You only go when you are ready.
Short on time? We can plan lessons close together so you reach your exam sooner. How fast this goes depends on your availability and on exam availability at the CBR.
Can I drive with my foreign licence in the Netherlands?
💡 The short answer
- Licence from outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland: you can use it for 185 days after the first day you live in the Netherlands (the day you register).
- After those 185 days: in some cases you can exchange your licence for a Dutch one. If not, you need to pass the Dutch theory and practical exam.
- Licence from an EU/EEA country: it is generally valid in the Netherlands, with some extra rules. Check the RDW to be sure.
- Not registered here (tourist stay): you can drive with a valid foreign licence.
Whether you can exchange your licence depends on the country that issued it. Check the RDW website for the rules for your country. If you cannot exchange it, start your lessons early, so you are ready before your 185 days run out.
